As a significant asset for CBIR benchmarking, MRML,the Multimedia Retrieval Markup Language is defined as a communication protocol between the CBIR client and server.
Building on the experience of using an early version, we are happy to announce the release of a new specification. Implementation should come soon...

In order to provide researchers (and IR newcomers) with accurate and relevant information, the Benchathlon site now comprises a Technical section.
The aim is to create or point to tutorial, lecture notes or overviews of technical aspect in CBIR evaluation.

| Benchathlon session at Internet Imaging IV | ^ |

One Benchathlon concrete events is a special session at the EI Internet Imaging Conference
Acceptance of abstracts have been announced. Authors are requested to submit their final manuscript by October 28th.
The final program should be announced soon.

| Benchathlon image collections browsable via the GIFT | ^ |

The Benchathlon Network aims at promoting resources and recommendations for CBIR benchmarking.
The setup of image collections is underway.
For now, mostly one large collections has been setup by Giordano Beretta.
It is copied within our site and is browsable through
the GIFT (GNU Image Finding Tool) from this page.
