• To get together Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) researchers;
• To set up an favourable environement for sharing CBIR resources;
• To set up a joint CBIR evaluation framework.
• Trigger new research projects in CBIR.

• More generally, we aim at gathering and sharing resources that are relevant to our goal, please contribute.
• We are addressing a number of guidelines to the community;
• There is no membership per se. Simply, you are invited to refer to our effort and suggest new material and recommendations to add.
• Benchathlon people take the opportunity of the Internet Imaging conference to meet in a special session;
• We are also aligned with IAPR Technical Committee TC12 Multimedia and Visual Information Systems chaired by Professor Clement Leung

What we enventually aim to is the development of an automated benchmark allowing the fair evaluation of any CBIR system. This is an incredible amount of work (see the detail). We can only accomplish it if we collaborate and leverage on each other's contributions. The first step is therefore to federate all efforts towards this goal.
